Bayelsa United Gets Part Salary Arrears
Players of Bayelsa
United have been paid part of the monies owed them for the past two seasons.
The Nigeria league side received 14 percent of their agreed sign-on fees for 2013/2014 season, while they also got 20 percent of the sign-on fee for 2012/2013.
The players protested severally this past season over outstanding payments and were promised they will be paid when they met the State Governor Seriake Dickson for the very first time.
One of the players said they expected much more from the government, but will make do with what they got.
”We have been paid part of our sign-on fees. We got 20 percent for 2013 season while we got 14 percent for the just ended season,” he said.
”We are not happy because we expect more than this from the government but what can we do, we just have to accept what we get now.
”This is the first time in my career I am getting such small percentage payment. They promised to pay us more by end of the month which I pray they fulfill. Some have got the alert for the payment already because they paid on Friday.”
Bayelsa escaped relegation on the last day of the season when they beat Heartland 2-1 in Owerri.
