Bank Staff Docked For Stealing N1.5m

FCMB, Tosin Adedokun, 36, on Thursday, appeared before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for stealing N1.5 million from the bank’s customers.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Joshua Oladoye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 5 at noon at the Gbogan branch of the bank.
Oladoye said the accused received a total of N1.5 million from a number of the bank’s customers on the pretext of assisting them deposit the money in their accounts.
He listed the customers as Cpl. Kehinde Ogunsubi – N420, 000.00, Mr Adebayo Oladuni- N346,000.00, Mrs Deborah Akande – N300,000.00 and Mr Olusola Osinode – N200,000.00,
Others are Miss Hannah Fagboola – N10,000.00, Mr Israel Fagboola – N5,000.00 and Mr Sulaiman Afeez — N4,000.00.
He said the offences committed contravened sections 419A (1), 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him.
The counsel to the accused, Mrs Nagode Muslimatu,urged the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Falilat Sodamade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000.00 with two sureties in like sum.
Sodamade said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce evidence of tax payment to the Osun State government.
She also directed that the sureties must submit two passport photographs to the court registrar as well as swear to an affidavit of means, while the prosecutor should verify their addresses.
Sodamade adjourned the case to January 28 for hearing.
