APC Assembly Primaries Results Trickle In …Halliday, Nyeche, Inimgba Emerge
Mr. Henry Halliday and Hon. Victoria Nyeche have emerged as House of Assembly candidates for Bonny and Port Harcourt Constituency 1 from yesterday’s primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress(APC) across the state.
Halliday billed to represent Bonny Constituency under the APC in the House of Assembly elections next year polled 256 votes, while Nyeche polled 122 votes.
Though the aspirant stood unopposed, party official who conducted the elections at Bonny, Azubuike Friday said the party needed to conduct elections to affirm his candidacy.
Shortly after, Mr Halliday thanked party members in the constituency for the support and large turnout.
He said, “I will not fail the people of Bonny and I’m going to have an all inclusive representation. Each and everyone of us will be fully involved.
The APC House of Assembly candidate in Bonny called on candidates in other parties to embrace peace by ensuring that campaigns are issue-based. He urged them to avoid campaign of calumny by telling the people what they will do for them.
On her part, Hon Nyeche promised quality representation and thanked the people of the constituency for giving her another chance to serve them.
In her words, “I believe I have given them effective representation in the past, but I will certainly do better and I will continue to ensure that we attract infrastructure to our people that will bring development.”
Declaring the results at Port Harcourt City Council Secretariat, Mr. Edori Emmanuel returned Hon. Victoria W. Nyeche with a total votes 122 out of 124 delegates.
Hon. Irene Iningba was also declared winner by the APC electoral committee with 204 votes.
The lawmakers promised to maintained their developmental projects and programmes if elected in 2015.
The Tide gathered that the election in Port Harcourt Constituencies one and two was peaceful and fair.
In PALGHA Constituency III, there was protest that following allegations of hijack of election materials. There were claims that some delegates were restricted from the election ground at Nkpolu, Mile 3 Port Harcourt.
However, Hon. Ihunwo Victor said the election was fair and free, beside, he had no contender.
In Gokana, constituency, The Tide gathered that Barikor Innocent B. was declared winner with a total votes of 454 out of 556 delegates, while in Khana, there was protest over alleged hijack of election material in favour of Hon. Leyii Kwanee, Constituency II and Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah representing Khana Constituency I.
Speaking with newsmen, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana LGA, Hon. Godwin Tornwe said, it was not true that, materials for the election were hijacked.
According to him, the materials were still at party secretariat, yet to be collected for the election.
