2015: Aspirant Advises Nigerians To Vote For Women

aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs Ngozi Obiefule, has  advised Nigerians to vote for women during the 2015 general election.
Obiefule, contesting for Isu/Njaba constituency of Imo, gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Owerri.
“ Records have shown that Nigerian women have the intellectual capacity to address the problems plaguing the nation and the womenfolk are less corrupt in managing public funds.
“My appeal is that women candidates irrespective of their political platforms should be massively voted into offices to liberate the country from numerous challenges,’’ Obiefule said.
She noted that if credible candidates, especially women were voted into office, it would help reduce political tension, corruption and other problems plaguing Nigeria’s democracy.
“Nigerian women at all levels should shine their eyes and ensure they vote only credible candidates because the women are in majority and have the voting strength to correct the abnormalities in the nation’s democracy.’’
Obiefule, who also called on various political parties to give women the 35 per cent appointive and elective positions in 2015, noted that the country stands to benefit more if more women were in public positions.
“Experience has shown that Nigeria has a lot of women of proven integrity who have what it takes to turn around the economy of the country.
“If this calibre of women are given the chance to pilot the affairs of this nation, the problem of insecurity, political thuggery, corruption and undue tension being reported across the country would be a things of the past.’’
Obiefule urged the people of her constituency to support her vision, adding that if voted into power, she would accord priority to numerous problems facing women and youths in the area.
The aspirant said she would empower the women and youths of Isu/Njaba because they constitute a major economic force in every society.
She equally stressed the need for the parents to support the moral re-orientation of the youth by the government, noting that if youths behaved well, Nigeria would be a force to reckon with internationally.
