Three passenger
speed boats from Port Harcourt to Bonny were attacked and diverted to a creek near Isaka community by some suspected sea pirates.
The incident occurred few kilometres from the Bonny waterside soon after the boats left the dilapidated jetty to Bonny last Tuesday.
A source told our correspondent that the sea pirates after their nefarious activities, took one of the speedboats and the engine away.
Confirming the incident on telephone yesterday, the Beach Master incharge of Bonny Marine Transport Association, Comrade Henry Jumbo said the ugly incident occurred in the early hours of last  Tuesday as soon as the boats left the Bonny waterside, Port Harcourt jetty.
Jumbo confirmed that two of the boats were recovered but could not disclose if there were casualties and properties lost.
He however, called on the authorities to provide security check points at the various flash-points of the river including at Dutch Island, Onne Sea route, the only creek linking Isaka and Bonny main sea as well as Bonny platform.
It would be recalled that sea pirates have been operating within the Port Harcourt – Bonny Sea routes of recent and efforts by the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and other concerned citizens of the area have fallen on deaf ear as nothing had been done to that effect.
