The Rivers State Road
Traffic Management Authority (TIMARIV), has dismissed 20 officers of the service for alleged misconduct, corruption and sundry offences.
The management in a statement said the officers were dismissed following their refusal to appear before an investigation and disciplinary panel set up by the authority.
According to the statement, the panel started its sitting between October 27 and 31, 2014 and even with proper notification, but the concerned officers refused to appear, adding that their dismissal is in line with Section 4 (030401 and 030402) of the public service rules, having failed to appear  the investigation and disciplinary panel.
It stated that the dismissed officers were among the 29 staff earlier suspended and nine of them who appeared before the panel have been discharged, and advised all those affected officers to handover or surrender all properties of the authority including their staff identify cards to the Zonal Administrative Officer, Zone 6, East-West, Port Harcourt on or before November 13, 2014.
The dismissed officers included Dennis Aikoriogie, Shalom Ogleku, Augustine Osayande, Chisa Iwu, Messiah Nwokocha, Ogolo Loveday, Ben Faithful Buduzhi, Ibianga Maxwill Brown, Kelechi Nwokocha and Prince Amadi.
Others are Christy Kala-Otaji, Precious Pepple, Fubara Laureta, Sobomabo Jack, Okpukpo Inyie Innocent, Koridinbo Lilly-West, Igenewari Ketuphel, Macdonald Membere, Victor Edamkue and Sodienye Tolofari. The management also advised the public not to have any dealings with the dismissed staff of the authority.
In a swift reaction, the Chairman of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees  (AUPCTRE), TIMARIV chapter, Comrade Igenewari Ketuphel, who is one of the alleged dismissed officers however said that right now, he and  some of his members were in Zone 6, Calabar and no suspension letter had been served to any of them.
It would be recalled that some staff of the authority on October 1, 2014 embarked on a peaceful protest to press home their demand that the state government should integrate them into the main stream of their payroll to ensure regular payment of salaries as well as correct some anomalies in the agency, which subsequently led to their suspension and invitation to face a panel constituted to look into their activities.
