Stakeholders of All
Progressives Congress (APC) in Asarama district of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, have denied claims by one Dr Awajiromsan Dressman, that he was unanimously adopted as the party’s consensus candidate to contest the State House of Assembly seat come 2015.
In a statement published in one of the local tabloids, Dressman claimed that the stakeholders including Chief Edam unanimously adopted him (Dressman) as consensus candidate to run for Assembly seat for Andoni.
But the stakeholders said there was no meeting or forum where any aspirant was adopted as consensus candidate in the party to represent Andoni in the Assembly.
The Andoni stakeholders claimed that Dressman, a serving medical doctor in the state civil service had never in any time informed the Asarama people where he comes from concerning his political ambition and wondered why Dressman resorted to such mischief against elders of the party in the area.
“It is not true that, the party elders have adopted any aspirant as consensus candidate for House of Assembly. It is also not true that I have any intention to run for House of Assembly. It’s equally untrue that the party had zoned House of Assembly slot to Asarama and it is true, Dr Dressman is not qualified”.
The statement enjoined the party at the state level to call Dressman to order, if truly he means well for the party.
But in an interview with The Tide, Chief Luke Edam, accused the People Democratic Party (PDP) for  sponsoring Dressman’s commotion in the party at Andoni.
He regretted that Dressman had  on several occassions engaged in activities that have caused  disaffection in All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
Edam, a former adviser on chieftaincy affairs to erstwhile Andoni chairman, however, advised the party to be cautious of who to be given the flag to run for elections come  2015.
