The two teams were yet to received their sign-on fees for last season and the enhance salaries for this season, in addition to some match bonuses despite several promises from the government that it would be paid.
Some players who spoke with Tidesports said that they were tired of the promises adding that, if the outstanding debt is not paid on or before Friday, they might not honour their league games.
A Dolphin player said that when the clubs visited Government House few days ago, they were told that the state government had approved the money for the payment of debt which was yet to be released.
“We don’t know what will happen on Friday if we are yet to get our money. Things have gone out of hand and we are not happy about it. We barely eat these days because things have gone beyond our hands.
“The government should listen to our pleas and ensure that the process for the release of the money is expedited,” the players lamented.
