The Senator  Represent
ing Rivers East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, has appealed to Nigerians to support the security agencies in  the flight against insurgency in the country.
Senator Sekibo made the appeal  at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Friday shortly on arrival from Abuja in a chat with aviation correspondents.
Senator  Sekibo, who is the senate committee chairman on defence said that fighting  insurgency should not be left alone for the security agents but required the support and cooperation of all  citizens of the country.
He denied insinuations in some quarters that  it took the intervention of hunters to take back Mubi town from the Boko Haram that renamed the area as an  Islamic  territory.
According to  him, “every Nigerian  must put effort to ensure that we overcome the Boko Haram menace but if the military are doing something  worthwhile and you give the credit to somebody else or other people, it is not good for the image of the soldiers”.
The federal  lawmaker explained that  there were  some civilian JTFs that had been joining the regular force to fight the battle because they had  their  role to play  and the regular force had their  own role to play.
“The important thing is that we have chased away Boko Haram from Mubi and since the regular forces  have taken  over, the town has been liberated. The Boko Haram  took over 16 local government  areas or towns and if it  is as easy as for the hunters, then  they should go to all the 16 LGAs or town and pursue  the Boko Haram fighters, “ he said.
He said that the National Assembly  was worried  over the situation in the country  but  assured that the nation would certainly overcome.
