RVHA Warns Against Sharing Of LG Funds

Government Council Caretaker Committee nominees have been warned against sharing of local government funds to deny the grassroots the dividends of democracy.
The Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Julius Llyod, who gave the warning on the floor of the House during the screening of the seven-man caretaker committee members of the local government council, urged them to help develop the people.
The House leader noted that the screening of the caretaker committee members was necessary since the life span of the elected officers had expired.
According to him, “it is important to have men and women who will superintend and administer the affairs of the council until election is conducted”.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon Otelemaba Dan-Amachree, had earlier announced that the state executive had sent in names of nominees for the caretaker committee of the local government council whose tenure expired last Monday.
Those screened include Daddy Ibigoni Pokima,Chairman, Barrister Ibiyekoroma Max-Alaibo, Prince Amabibi Homly, Mrs Dora Oloko Senibo, Destiny Iganibo, Deima Agiobu and Orere I Know Serri.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi is expected to inaugurate the members later.
In another development, the State Assembly has constituted an ad hoc committee to investigate reasons why the part-time lecturers of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science were not recruited after 14 years.
Otelemaba Dan Amachree, who constituted the committee after a petition from the part-time lecturers to the House, urged the committee to assist in resolving the matter.
Hon. Augustine Paul Ngo, is to serve as chairman, while other members are Hon Belema Okpokiri, Hon. Victor Amadi, Hon Chigbo Sam Eligwe and Hon Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu.
