The Technical Director of
the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) , Olatunji Fasimoye, said Nigeria would excel  in the 2014 Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) Sevens Championships, billed for Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is hosting the Sevens Championships, slated for November 29 and November 30.
Fasimoye, who spoke to newsmen after training players on Thursday in Lagos, ahead of the tournament, said that Nigeria would surpass its 6th best position in Rugby 7’s in Africa.
“We are determined to raise the bar this time and if possible come down to the first position in the continent.
‘‘Our contingent will be made-up of champions from the Independence Rugby 7’s Championship held at the Onikan Stadium Lagos on October 31 and November 1 to commemorate Nigeria’s independence anniversary.”
Fasimoye said that the tournament would afford the federation the opportunity to assess the competence of the South African tutor hired to train players for the event.
He said that arrangements had been concluded for the team to leave for Harare on November 27 to begin the event on a sound-footing.
He said the team had in the last one week been receiving comprehensive training at the National Stadium, Surulere, adding that the players were good to go.
12 countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tunisia, Nigeria, Madagascar, Namibia, Botswana, Senegal, Zambia, Ivory Coast, South Africa and the host, Zimbabwe, would be contesting at the event.
