Rivers Basketball Team Targets Zonal Qualification

Basketball Association has said that the postponement of the 19th National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged “Centenary Games 2014” would not distract the athletes from their focus.
The State female basketball Coach, Dagogo Okumgba gave the assurance in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt recently.
He said that the target of the team is to qualify from the zone so as to participate in the main competition next year.
“Our target is to make it to the NSF games scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State and win medals for the state”, he said.
He further said that though the competition has been postponed but, the team would continue its training in preparation for the task ahead.
He however, advised the athletes to be focused and take their trainings seriously, saying that the competition is at the corner.
The postponement would further help us prepare our grounds in readiness of the Centenary Games”, he explained.
Meanwhile, the 19th National Sports Festival would now hold from 9th – 19th April, 2015.
