Reps Member Blames Britain For Nigerians’ Woes

Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency in Rivers State, Dr Dawari George has identified the colonial policy of divide and rule as the bane of palpable disunity among Nigerians.
Dr Dawari George made this statement during the award ceremony I book launch of the student Historical Society of Nigeria University of Port Harcourt chapter.
According to Dr George, Nigerian politicians are more interested in what they could do for their regions than what they could do for the nation.
“Bad as this was, a new dynamic has since played out that makes virtue of this. With very few exceptions, contemporary Nigerian politicians are more interested in what they could do for themselves than for the nation or state. This self-interested attitude of the political class has permeated the policy process with profound adverse consequences on the nation”.
Also speaking, the president of Student Historical Society of Nigeria, University of Port Harcourt chapter, Mr Tonye Harry said the choice of Ugane Maxwell Iragunima as a recipient of the award was as a result of his efforts in the development of education in Rivers State.
He also added that Iragunima had contributed to the educational advancement  of the people of Andoni Local Government Area, especially the people from his home town Ataba.
Responding, the recipient of the award Ugane Iragunima, who expressed joy over the award, urged the public to always invest in people for the benefit of humanity.
