As the 2015 general
elections draw close the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, The Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh, has urged all faithful of the Anglican Communion to ensure that they get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and participate in the electoral process.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the just-concluded 2014 Divine Commonwealth Conference at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, Okoh said failure to do so would mean enslaving one’s self.
“Go and get your voters card now. If you don’t you go into political slavery”, Okoh said.
The head of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) stated that he believed in the combination of political and spiritual approach in order to have abundant life, but expressed dissatisfaction that Anglicans are not presenting themselves for governorship and other political offices.
He said give your children political education. There is nothing wrong for Anglicans to be governors, ministers etc”.
On homosexuality and gay marriage, the Primate noted that foreigners were infiltrating the church by sponsoring some persons as missionaries and teachers to discredit the Church of Nigeria and scatter it.
He urged the leadership of various dioceses to be wary of activities of such persons and their relationship in the churches and advised bishops to rise to the challenge of fishing out such missionaries who do not mean well to the Church of Nigeria.
In his vote of thanks, the Dean, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Most Rev Friday Imaekhai, who expressed joy over the success of the conference said, “any work of God which is done in God’s way will never lack resources.” Imaekhai appreciated God for the church leadership in packaging DIVCCON even as he thanked the planning committee prayer team and resource persons for the contributions in the success story of the conference.
