The Inspector,
Adminstration Department of Management Resource and Planning of Zone 6, River State Police headquarters, Inspector Shedrack Gbasibo has stressed the need for thorough background check before recruiting people into the police force.
Gbasibo gave this advice during the annual Royal Rangers Parade of Assemblies of God Church, Marine Base Section in Port Harcourt.
He said recruitment for  the  police is from the society and is made up of both bad and good people.
“The police job as a matter of fact is noble profession, however the recruitment for this job is from the society of which there is a great tendency of recruiting corrupt officers.
According to him there is no police institution that trains officers to be corrupt. The police recruits  corrupt officers without knowing.
Gbasibo also noted that these officers are from various families which may be also corrupt, “parents can train their children to be trustworthy, definitely when they get to the police force, then their good character will surely reflect”, he said.
