NSF Postponement Excites Director

The Director of the FCT
Sports Council,  Alim Musa, has said the postponement of the 19th National  Sports Festival (NSF) was a blessing in disguise.
Musa told Newsmen that the development was good in view of the problem of lack of funds being faced by the council and other state sports authorities.
The 19th NSF, earlier scheduled for November  23 to December 3 in Calabar, was on Tuesday moved to April 9 to April 19, 2015.
The FCT Director of Sports said the festival’s postponement would help some of the states which were lagging behind in complying with some of the requirements for the event.
“Considering the fact that money has not been released for the festival in many of the states and the FCT, I think the postponement is a blessing in disguise.
“At least, we now have a little more time to get ourselves in order.
“The host state has also had its own problems, just as it has happened to most states in the country, including the FCT.
“Everybody has been waiting for funds. We just have to go with what we are faced with, if the host state is not just ready.
“There is hardly anything anyone can do. So, we have to go with what is on ground,’’ he said.
Musa, however, said the national and state sports administrators saw the postponement coming, in view of the fact that other related programmes had not been held this year.
“We saw it coming because there were some programmes that should have been held but had been put on hold.
“So, that invariably gave us the idea of what could be happening, that the festival has to be postponed,’’ he said.
