NSF Postponement, Blessing In Disguise-Director

Rivers State Sports Council, Evangelist Ezekiel Ordu, has described the postponement of the 19th National Sports Festival as a blessing in disguise.
Ordu who made the statement it his office at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports Complex, Port Harcourt said that the postponement of the fiesta would further help coaches and athletes to fortify their earlier preparations for the competition.
According to him, the head of coaching the coaches and athletes was yet to be officially informed about the development, saying that, the Sports Director is expected to call for a meeting with members.
He further said that the postponement of the festival would not in any way affect the performance of Rivers State athletes as training programmes have been put in place to keep the athletes fit.
When Tidesports visited the Chief Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, yesterday, Rivers athletes were busy training at their various gyms.
At the weightlifting gyms, weightlifters were in high spirit in their training, in preparation for the National Sports Festival.
Also at Baskstball, Volleyball, Kick Boxing, Karate and Cricket sections the athletes were in intensive training despite the news of the postponement of the festival.
Some of the athletes who spoke with Tidesports expressed confidence and readiness to surpass the state record at the last National Sport Fedtival.
Tidesports gathered that Rivers State concluded the first and second phases of camping for the athletes and were looking fordword for the event proper.
