Housing: Surveyor Advocates Project Team

Harcourt, C.A Ukpai has said that any Mass housing project requires a project team which must be made up of a group of experts from the various fields in the sector.
He said such a project team which will combine various experts in the environment will ensure that such project is properly executed, pointing out that time has come when some mistakes that were made in the past in terms of public project execution should be corrected.
Ukpai, who made this known in Port Harcourt while speaking in a forum on housing penultimate  Thursday, urged all the professionals in the building sector not to lay emphasis on monetary gains but should always aim at doing the right thing.
He said, “We should always look at the right thing, look at the safety of people we want to serve, and not because of the money we want to make as gain.
We should not emphasise on money making but on doing the right thing. The land surveyor also explained that in any thing pertaining to land management, the Geospatial, which is referred to as Geographic Information System is used to get information about a people, and is got through the office of the Surveyor-General.
He also stated that the “Core Wall Control Survey System (CWCS) is used to monitor high rise buildings and bridges, adding that it monitors the height of the building and the bridge to know whether they are sinking due to heavy load on them.
According to Ukpai, the land surveyor comes first in any thing concerning building development, because he enters the bush to clear the way before other professionals can go in.
