Gunmen Attack Agip Facilities In Bayelsa

Armed masked men at
the weekend launched multiple attacks on Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipeline and oil well at Okoroma local government Area of Bayelsa State.
The development, believed to the connected to disagreement over an oil surveillance contract in the local government had caused tension in the area as it would affect the production of oil export from the state.
Security sources said the armed marsked men got access to Agip’s oil well 7 and Obama oil field pipeline effortlessly and attacked them with explosive suspected to be dynamites.
A source close to the council of chiefs in the area said an independent investigation into the incident had commenced.
A source further revealed that the struggle over who would handle the surveillance contract motivated the attack adding that investigations revealed that two faction had emerged in the struggle to secure the multi-million-naira surveillance contract.
Coordinator of Okoroma Liberation Movement, a faction of the association of youths in the area, Japhther Olali and the Secretary Clement Adaminegbe, said the incident was an attempt by loyalists of top politicians in Nembe to hijack the security surveillance job and hand over to their cronies.
