The Federal Executive

This is part of the outcomes of the weekly FEC meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The supervising Minister of Information, Mr Nurudeen Mohammed, briefed State House correspondents alongside the Ministers of Water Resources and Niger Delta Affairs, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe and Mr Steve Oru, respectively.
Oru explained that the section, which is 15km-long, runs from Eleme Junction in Port Harcourt to Onne Port Junction Road, both in Rivers State.
He said that the contract was awarded in favour of Messers Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) with a completion period of 18 months.
According to him, the road will provide access to the strategic Onne Free Trade Zone where 15 companies operate, with a total investment worth six billion dollars.
He added that the project would be funded through the African Development Bank, SURE-P and the main line appropriation.
The council also approved a memo for the award of contract for the construction and upgrade of the Molete Water Works in Kwara.
It was awarded in favour of Messers Turning Point Engineering Limited in the sum of N117.5 million with a completion period of three months.
The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe, explained that the project would provide potable water to Molete Community and Kwara State University.
“The population there is growing; presently, the estimated population is 17,000 people. When completed, it will ensure that they have access to potable water.
“It will also ensure that they have good sanitation and healthier living standards, in keeping with the desire of this administration to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
