FCDA Begins Demolition Of Houses
The Federal Capital
Development Authority (FCDA), has begun demolition of structures that tend to deface the aesthetics of the city.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja last Friday, the Director of Development, FCDA, Hamza Madaki, stated that the action of the authority is in line with the desire to maintain the required beauty of the city.
He said that some of the structures have been dilapidated in the city and have defaced the city, stressing that owners of such buildings have not made efforts to reconstruct or renovate such buildings since they were built.
Madaki also hinted that other categories of the buildings that are being demolished are those that obstruct the original plan of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, many of the structures being developed did not follow specifications of plan in the territory and as such have obstructed the plan and beauty o the environment.
The FCDA development director also maintained that the authority of the FCDA have decided to take the bull by the horn towards ensuring that the aestetics of the metropolis is being restored and maintained.
He however, urged property owners and developers to key into the vision of the FCDA, and also appealed that proper consultation be made by those who are embarking on new projects.
