Enyimba Threatens FA CUP Final Boycott
Players of 2014 Federation Cup holders Enyimba have threatened not to play this year’s cup final because they are owed bonuses for 28 games and sign-on fees for the just concluded season.
The players are complaining over the non-payment of 28 match bonuses and sign-on fees for the season that is just ending.
An official of the club told AfricanFootball.com: “The players are very serious with their threat of not playing the Federation Cup final match.
“We are even lucky that they did not fail to show up for the last league encounter with Pillars in Aba on Sunday after they refused to move into a closed camp called by management. They trained on their own for over three days.”
A player of the Aba millionaires, who did not want to be identified, added: “We shall be staging a peaceful demonstration to the Government House in Umuahia on Tuesday to press home our demands.
If they failed to settle the debts owed us that have run into 28 match bonuses and sign-on fees for this season, we will not go to Lagos.”
On Sunday, Enyimba will face Dolphins in the Federation Cup final in Lagos. Enyimba won the cup competition last year after beating warri Wolves on penalty shootout.
