e-UTME: Special School Teacher Makes Case For Students

ment has been called upon to consider the special school for the blind in the state and provide them with set of computers and accessories that would enable them write the e-united e-Unified Matriculation Examination (UTME) by next year.
A teacher with the school in Port Harcourt who pleaded anonymity, said over N9 million worth of computers and accessories would be needed to acquire the equipment for the students.
The said the school is just special as the name implies, adding that all UTME centres in the state ought to make provision for the blind and other special candidates.
The hinted that something like electronic cane was also important for the teaching of the special people, saying that they are important members of the society.
According to him, the e-education system would enhance both teaching and learning ability of the students, as he called on the multinationals operating in the state to assist the state government in the project.
Meanwhile, our correspondent, gathered that The Bethseda School for the blind in Lagos, has already concluded plans to prepare its students for the e-UTME by next year.
The Director of the school, Mrs Chioma Uwakwe, said to purchase computers and accessories for the school was the major challenge facing them at present.
According to him, each of the special computers would cost close to N275,000, adding that the means of raising the funds was scarce.
Earlier, Uwakwe, had appealed to both corporate and private individuals to come to their aid in order to give hope to the students.
