Do The Right Thing, Aspirant Urges PDP
One of the 16 aspir
ants who boycotted the ward and local government congresses, Prince Tonye Princewill, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to do the right thing in ensuring equitable and fairness in selecting its governorship candidate.
Princewill, who reacted to a recent statement by the PDP in the state, dismissing reports that the wards and local government congresses have not been cancelled said it was only a matter of time for the party to do the right thing.
According to him, the consequences of not doing it right are better left unsaid. He said the PDP knows how to win and expressed optimism that the party would win.
“My father taught me not to believe in my breakfast until I have eaten it, so I will react to official statement not rumours. Cancelling the ward congress is just one step’’, he said.
Earlier, the Rivers chapter of the PDP, had described as false, baseless and unfounded a newspaper report credited to a governorship aspirant in the state, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs that the results of the ward congresses recently conducted in the state have been cancelled.
A statement from the office of the State Chairman of the party, Bro. Felix Obuah and signed by his Media Adviser, Jerry Needam, said there was no time that the idea of cancelling the ward congresses was contemplated by the national leadership of the party let alone issuing such order.
The results of the ward congresses, the statement further added, remain sacrosanct and irreversible because all due processes and decorum were followed in conducting the election.
