BPE Adopts New Method To Check Quackery
The Bureau for Pub
lic Enterprise (BPE) has said that it has adopted a method of rejecting any application or tender for job from any professional in the built environment that does not have the registration number of the professional body to which they belong.
Making this known to The Tide shortly after a pubic function in Port Harcourt recently, the Director General of BPE, Engineer Emeka Eze said that the organization would not register or consider any body who claims to be a professional, but is not registered with the recognized professional body concerned.
Eze who was represented by Engineer Isaiah Yahaya, said that the method being adopted by the Bureau was aimed at checkmating the menance of quackery in the building Industry.
He said, That means you are not a professional that you claim to be, if you are not registered or recognized by the professional body you are supposed to belong.
According to him, the Bureau has domineering influence on Federal Government projects, and that these are methods by the BPE to check quacks in the built environment.
Eze maintained that about 24 states in the country had passed the procurement law in their respective states, adding that there is collaboration between the states and the federal on that issue.
He maintained that the quality of any job is very important in project execution, and that any tender that has the best quality is likely to get the job, even if the cost is higher.
