Bayelsa Approves N100m For Players
Bayelsa United would
soon smile to bank as the Bayelsa State government has approved the sum of 100 million naira to offset their outstanding entitlements.
An influential member of the team disclosed that the players went ahead to honour their last game of the season against Heartland which they won 2-1 to remain in the top flight after the club official informed them of the development.
“We went to play the last game against Heartland and won because the chairman told us the government has approved to pay us,” said the player.
“And that they will disburse the money into our accounts this week, so we are waiting.
“They are owing us sign-on fees from last season to the just concluded one as well as the match bonus for the last game against Heartland.”
Bayelsa barely escaped relegation this past season when they finished 15th on 51 points.
