Avoid Return To Anarchy In Rivers …Horsfall, Princewill Warn
A former Director General of the State Security Service, Chief A.K. Horsfall and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, have warned against a return to anarchy in the state.
They gave the warnings in separate statements while reacting to grievances expressed by stakeholders over the conduct of last Saturday’s PDP Ward Congresses in the state.
According to them, the governorship aspiration of Chief Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike is a security threat that may cause the disruption of peace in the state if the grievances being expressed over the PDP Ward Congress were not resolved.
Horsfall said,’’ Rivers people are walking again into another era of anarchy. “I have just come from a meeting and I want to say how vehement the Rivers population, including those from the main land areas feel that the state of peace and the equilibrium in this state is about to be disrupted and they resent the idea of another mainland candidate for the purpose of self-interest to come and create that instability that we have just come out from”.
‘’We forget so soon that between year 2000 and 20002, the seeds of insecurity were deliberately and purposefully sown and sponsored by top political players in the state. Assassins sponsored by these persons and engineered through a serving police officer at that time murdered a number of persons…”, he said.
However, Tonye Princewill stated that last Saturday’s Ward Congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) was just an opportunity for the masses to fight and destroy things, adding that those behind the scene do not care if Rivers people died as long as they win.
He said if they do not care of those they want to govern, he and his team care, hence they stayed clear.
According to him, “Our people say the difference between a small snake and a big worm is teeth. Neither Amaechi nor Wike will deliver Rivers State because even the grass will reject them. It’s time to start afresh. It’s time for renewal. And all of their money and more will never change that.”
