2015: MOSOP Harps On Ogoni Guber Candidate
The Movement for the
Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) says, Ogoni governorship project come 2015 will not be compromised as any political party that does not feature an Ogoni candidate will lose its support.
Speaking with newsmen at the just-concluded 19th Anniversary in commemoration of Ogoni Martyrs in Port Harcourt, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Mosop, Prince Legborsi E. Esaen said, the people of Ogoni were prepared to give their bloc votes to any political party that chose Ogoni man as governorship candidate.
According to him, Ogoni people will disgrace any politician from Ogoni that violates any agreement reached by the people of Ogoni on 2015 governorship.
Prince Esaen also used the opportunity to explain that Ogoni governorship project is not based on ethnic sentiment as being insinuated in some quarters of the state, but to ensure equity and justice in the governance of the state and Nigeria in general.
The Mosop PRO also opined that Ogoni is not ready to play second fiddle in the political equation of the state saying, Andoni and Opobo that are from the same zone with them already served deputy governors for sixteen years.
Esaen warned that the Ogoni would boycott the general elections if the Ogoni candidates were not chosen as gubernatorial flag-bearers in the major political parties in the state.
Also speaking, the President of National Ogoni Youth of Peace Organisation (NO.Y.P.O), ThankGod Raphael Kialee, said youths of Ogoni would not participate in the 2015 elections if there was no serious commitment from federal government in the implementation of UNEP Report, Ogoni Bill of Right as well as the choice of Ogoni candidate in the governorship of the state.
He used the opportunity to warn investors to steer clear from Ogoni oil blocs until all the issues surrounding such business interest had been properly discussed with the Ogoni people.
