Yaya Is Back, Claims City Boss
Manchester City
manager, Manuel Pellegrini is adamant that Yaya Touré is closing in on his best form, as the Citizens travelled to Russia to face CSKA Moscow in their Group E encounter of the UEFA Champions League yesterday.
The Côte d’Ivoire’s midfielder has been criticised for his performance this season, after leading City to their second Premier League title in three years in the previous campaign.
However, the Chilean coach is confident the 31-year old will soon play to his full potential.
“I don’t agree exactly with the media that Yaya has had a bad season. If you compare to last year, when he had a brilliant performance, maybe he just needs time to get back to that level,” Pellegrini said ahead of their Champions’ League meeting.
“He is still a very important player for our team, as he showed recently against Aston Villa. Every game he is playing better, he had a very complicated summer, but he is arriving towards his best performances.”
City are under huge pressure after only gathering a single point from their first two games, and will have to secure a win in Moscow to boost their chances of making the knockout stage.
