Union Vows To Promote Internal Democracy
The Road Transport Em
ployers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has vowed to ensure that the principle of internal democracy is promoted within its state affiliates.
The National President of the Association Comrade Musa Isiwele, stated this, while speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday.
Isiwele said the leadership of the association would not condone any imposition of candidate, stressing that the association would do everything within its powers to ensure popular candidate emerged victorious in all of the Association’s election.
He said everybody in the Association regardless of where they come from or their religion have the right to aspire to any position within its fold, stressing that the Nigerian Constitution 1999 as amended guaranteed equal right to all Nigerians.
The Association boss enjoined members to remain calm and allow peace to always reign in the Association, stressing that no state government in the federation has right to impose candidate on the Association.
He said that the Association election to the office of the chairman of Lagos State RTEAN would be organised by the National Headquarters and conducted in Abuja.
Isiwele disclosed that anybody that God chooses will rule Lagos RTEAN Chapter, promising that there will be no discrimination of candidates.
It would be recalled that following the death of the RTEAN elected former chairman in Lagos, Comrade Adefowoku Olorode, the Association has been thrown into disarray over an alleged attempt by some vested interests to impose chairmanship candidate on the Association in Lagos.
