The Anambra State
Central Traditional Rulers’ Council last Monday urged Christians to always associate with  development and peace building in every community they find themselves.
Its chairman, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ilouno, of Ifitedunu  Community made the appeal on Monday at a ceremony for the late  Emeritus Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Awka, Most Rev. Simon Okafor, in Ifitedunu near Onitsha in Anambra.
Ilouno noted that being a Christian should not prevent one from contributing positively to the growth and wellbeing of those in his or her community notwithstanding the differences in faith and creed.
“Our late brother, Bishop Okafor, taught us that the Bible recognises that everybody should be given his due and everyone must pay his dues or taxes and participate in community development projects no matter his faith differences.
“While he was alive, he lived a life of love and selflessness that knows no boundary; always making sure that he settled disputes threatening the peace of our communities in Anambra.
“He paid his age-grade dues even to the month of August when he departed.
“Most people in our communities were converted not by mere preaching but by the love that he showed to everyone that encountered him in all he did,’’ Ilouno said.
The monarch said that Anambra had lost a peace builder and someone who would listen and find solution even if it meant compromising for the sake of brotherhood and oneness.
“Till now, we have not come to reality with His Lordship’s demise.
“We know he is in the bosom of our Lord and pray that the good Lord that took him away will restore to us another Okafor,’’ he said.
