Sanitation: Agency Orders Stoppage Of Work At Hotel

The Rivers State Waste
Managmeent Agency (RIWAMA) has ordered Trevi foundation to stop work at the construction site of the proposed Radisson Blue Hotel currently going on at the former premises of Hotel Olympia, Old GRA Port Harcourt.
This was contained in a press release signed by the spokesman of the agency, Olalekan Ige, a copy made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt.
The release said that the stoppage order follows an abatement notice on the company to clean the debris  it caused on Forces Avenue and Government  House Drive axis of the old GRA Port Harcourt, occasioned by the construction the company is carrying out at the site.
According to the release, the stoppage of work order will only be removed when the company evacuates the debris and an assurance that such activities would not continue.
The release also had the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Mr Ade Adeogun calling on both individuals and construction companies operating in the state to desist from using their activities to damage public infrastructure as well as indiscriminate littering of roads and reminded them of the relevant fines  and various jail terms as contained in the law setting up the agency.
