Rivers Guber: PDP Lacks Quality Candidates -Amaechi …As APC Targets 69,000 Supporters For Mega Rally
Rivers State Governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has nothing to offer the people in the 2015 general election as it has no credible candidate but corrupt politicians.
Amaechi stated this yesterday during an inspection tour of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex in preparation for the October 25th All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Port Harcourt.
He said, “Rivers people need to vote out PDP and vote in APC in 2015. The quality of candidates PDP is offering is people who are prepared to cart away state funds”.
Amaechi also condemned the call for another Ikwerre Governorship Candidate as his successor after his eight years in office and described those behind the propaganda as prophets of doom.
“There are people whose interests you must protect. Ikwerre people were not born into the state just to become governors at the expense of other Rivers people. If we cried against injustice when the Bayelsa people were with us, then Ikwerre people should not lead the onslaught to say that Ikwerre must always get governorship because they have the number to achieve that”, he said.
On the proposed APC mega rally, Amaechi said, the mega rally which targets 69,000 APC supporters in the state was designed to showcase the popularity of the party in the state and prove that the APC is not a billboard party as widely speculated by the Presidency and PDP to score cheap points.
“PDP said, they held a town hall meeting at the Elekahia stadium of 16,000-capacity. And to hold our own here at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, we are expecting over 69,000 APC faithful for the mega rally. We are using the rally to show our popularity to the world including the President that we are not a billboard party. You will witness the turnout.
“Although the Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru is in charge of the preparation for the event, I came to see the speed of work and I think it is in progress and we expect the pace of work to increase in order to complete the main bowl of the stadium before the mega rally,” Amaechi said.
