Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday  Orubebe,  has called on the Delta State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure free, fair and creditable governorship primaries in the state come November 29.
Orubebe stated this in Asaba when he led members of the Delta People’s Forum, DPF, a Non-governmental Organisation, to the executive members of PDP to declare his ambition to contest the Delta State governorship election.
He said only a transparent primary of one-man, one-vote would strengthen the confidence the electorate reposes on the party.
Orubebe, a governorship aspirant, outlined his blueprint for the state when elected as governor, saying he would focus on job creation, youth empowerment, improved healthcare delivery and infrastructural development among others.
He explained that his involvement in government at the federal, state and local government levels qualifies him to be governor of Delta State
He said, “I am not an accidental politician. I started as a councilor, to Local Government Chairman, to board member, commissioner and minister. When I was the Chairman l held monthly meeting and l shall replicate that when l become the Governor. I also initiate Project Account when l was a board member making us to pay all contractors in SPEB. I am an architect of urban renewal”.
Responding, the Chairman, Delta State PDP, Nwaoboshi said the party was prepared to conduct a free and fair election, saying all contestants would be given a level playing ground to test their popularity, pointing out that the party was determined to implement the one-man-one vote policy.
