‘Hold Politicians Responsible For Gokana Crisis’

Paramount Rulers and
stakeholders in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, have blamed politicians for the persistent crisis in the area.
Speaking at the meeting of Gokana Kingdom Stakeholders Forum recently at Giokoo, the traditional headquarters of the kingdom, the Paramount Ruler of Nweol town, His Royal Majesty Mene Sunday Kotex, said the only alternative ways of checking cultism is to tackle politicians in the area first.
Chief Kotex suggested that all politicians in the area should be summoned to a meeting where, they would be properly addressed and warned against  supporting and sponsoring cult related activities in the area.
The caretaker  Committee Chairman of Gokana Local Government Area, Hon Syvester Vidi in his own speech, said the meeting was called to profer solution to the crisis in the area.
Hon Vidi, who identified the persistent crisis between Barako Peken, Nwebiara and Deyor as inimical to the progress and development of the area, called on politicians to shun politics of bitterness.
Speaking on behalf of the Gbenemene of Gokana Kingdom, HRM, King Barnabas Paago Bagia, the Press Secretary, Mene Kagbarameri Ledee, called on the people of the area to embrace peace and shun violence.
He also called on the paramount rulers, youth leaders and Community Development Committee chairmen to rise to the expectation of people in the fight against criminal activities in their respective areas.
