The Rivers Young En
trepreneurs Forum (RYEF), has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against choosing a wrong candidate during the party’s primaries to produce its governorship flag bearer, even as it endorses Prince Tonye Princewill to fly the flag of the party at teh polls.
The group, in a press statement, said it took the position to protect their future and avoid youth restiveness which may destroy the future of most youths.
In a statement signed by its president, Rex David, the group noted that it consulted widely and decided to endorse President Jonathan for a second term in 2015 and Tonye Princewill for Rivers State governor.
“We have taken keen interest in Rivers State due to the dynamic nature of politics in the state, vis-à-vis the quest to avoid youth restiveness, which might build up if the wrong candidate is projected to run. We have, however, decided to endorse Prince Tonye Princewill as governor of Rivers State in 2015. We also want to suggest the nomination of Prof. Don Baridam, who is one of the most resourceful Ogoni sons, as running mate to Tonye Princewill… We feel bold to state that the exercise leading to this finding and conclusion is borne out of extensive consultations and tireless hard work by members of our team,” the group said.
The group which claimed to cut across all the local government areas in the state, with non-indigenes residing in the state and aspirants vying for various political positions in the state, however, acknowledged the gains of the transformation agenda of the Jonathan’s administration.
Jonathan’s achievements, it said, can be found in critical sectors of the economy such as power, aviation, oil and gas, education, agriculture, trade and investment, youth empowerment, health and tourism.
It also solicited maximum support of all Rivers people and Nigerians in general to work towards actualizing the re-election bid of President Jonathan come 2015.
It further argued that Princewill was preferred among other aspirants in the PDP because he always put his ambition secondary to the interest of the state, saying that if elected Rivers people have a lot to benefit.
