Group Backs PDP Stand On Zoning
As reactions trail the
decision by the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to throw the governorship position of the party open to all sections of the state, a non-governmental organisation, De-light for Good Governance, has backed the party’s position on the issue.
Chairman of the group, Prince Emmanuel Abali Amadi who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, described zoning as undemocratic, stressing that since the inception of democracy in 1999, Rivers State had never operated zoning.
He said that what the state needs at the moment is a credible person its affairs.
Meanwhile, the group has thrown its weight behind President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election as well as Chief Ezebunwo Nyesome Wike for the governorship of the state.
The group also mobilized support for PDP in next year’s general election.
“Our aim is to make sure that our party, PDP win the next general election, both the local government areas, state and federal levels,” he said.
