Grassroots Soccer: Lagos FC Qualifies For Q/Finals

The Lagos 1 FC in
the ongoing Lagos State Divisional Soccer Championship, has, handed a 4-1 defeat to Robo FC of Ikeja, to qualify for the quarter final in the grassroots soccer competition.
The zonal finals which started on Monday at the Campos square Mini-Stadium saw the rampaging Islanders shooting from all cylinders, in an attempt to dislodge their opponent. The championship, supported by Kalbe Nigeria PLC, makers of Extra Joss brand of energy drink, started on September  22, to end on October 26.
Speaking after the match, Coach Harry Ohioze, who led the victorious team, said that their driving force was team work.
“The philosophy of the team has been that of team work, as no one player or official is an island.
“My boys are resolute in obeying that principle to the letter, which seems to be working the magic for the team up to this stage in the competition.
“I am optimistic that my boys will triumph in the remaining matches and lift the trophy, as a symbol of their artistry in the round leather game,” Ohioze said.
The Match Officer, Bode Kuku, said the competition had tremendously improved from what it was in previous editions.
According to him, at inception in 2013, the brand’s support package stipulated among others to groom players that can stand the test of time at the highest stage of world football.
“Today, we can boastfully say we have players that can fit in properly in different stages of our national football,” Kuku added.
He disclosed that more than 15 players have been discovered so far in the competition as outstanding.
The competition began in all the five divisions of the state, namely Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe, Badagry, Lagos Mainland and the Island.
