Ember Months: Police Target Violent Crimes In Rivers
The Rivers State Police
Command has reiterated its commitment to fighting crime in the state, with emphasis on violent crimes throughout the ‘ember, months and ensuring peace throughout the Yule tide season.
A statement from the office of the Commissioner of Police, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, made available to The Tide said the challenges of the ‘ember months and the political activities of the 2015 general elections made the renewed commitment of the Force mandatory.
Already, it said, ‘a water tight operation order’ has been mapped out and marching orders given to Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers with stern warning to do everything possible to pursue this agenda of the State Command.
“Use all available resources to stem the tide of crime in the state with particular focus on violent ones”, the Police Commissioner tasked the Area Commanders and DPO’s, adding that massive deployment of policemen and patrol vehicles had been carried out, especially within the State capital, Port Harcourt.
“The Command shall continue to remain resolute and focused in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements while members of the public are enjoined to call the Police and report any seeming move or character capable of undermining public peace and security, please”, the statement said.
