Don Calls For More Centres In Rivers
The Rivers State Gov
ernment has been called upon to create more information and communication Technology (ICT) centres in the state so as to put the state ahead of others in terms of ICT development.
A lecturer at the state-owned university of Science and Technology, Engr. Ikechi Prince, said this Thursday in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
He said the creation of more ICT centres would not only place the State on top, but will ease the challenges of Internet access.
Prince, noted that countries or states with large number of ICT centres stand a better chance of grooming programme developers.
The don reasons that young people are now more keen to learn about IT and programe development due to high revenue associated with it.
He maintained that the present state administration has all it takes to term the state to an ICT lub in the country.
According to him, the best way to go about the venture, was to create formidable ICT centres across the 23 LGAs in the state.
He explained that if that is done, even those who are not interested in the Internet business, would suddenly key into the system.
Community on the ICT level of the state, the said it was not doing badly, but that some areas in the system need to be upgraded in order to accommodate the latest technique involved in internet teaching.
Earlier, he had praised the special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Engr Goodlife Nmekini over what he described as raw display of professionalism.
