A court case against
the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday was struck out at the Federal High Court in Jos in time to beat today’s deadline given by FIFA, which has warned that it will ban the country if that was not done.
Justice Ambrose Allagoa said the case against the NFF has been struck out after the plaintiffs withdrew it.
”I have struck out the matter and I back this on Order 50 of the Federal High Court rules, which gives me the power to strike out a case that has been discontinued. The suit ceases to have life therefore,” said the judge.
Lead counsel to the plaintiffs HabilaArdzard further said : “As a result of pleas from so many well-meaning Nigerians and in the national interest, my clients have discontinued with the case.”
A lawyer representing the NFF Joshua Onoja further confirmed that the plaintiffs have withdrawn the case.
”The case against the NFF has been withdrawn,” said Onoja.
Last week, the Federal High Court in Jos gave a ruling setting aside the FIFA –ordered elections of 30th September, 2014 into the NFF executive committee.
