Chief Ike Obasi, the
President General of Imo Community Assembly, Abuja, said yesterday that Governor Rochas Okorocha’s administration was doing well in road construction in Imo.
Ike, who spoke with newsmen in Abuja, said that the governor had also done well in job creation.
“We never had it so good both under military and civilian rules in the area of road construction and rehabilitation.
“Every local government has 17 kilometres of tarred roads now; if you multiply that by the 27 local government areas in the state, that should be over 400 kilometres.
“This is not hear say. I always travel home and I am talking from what I see on ground,’’ he said.
On the area of job creation, he said that the 10 companies handling the road projects were indigenous companies who engaged local workforce.
According to him, the Okorocha administration had also resuscitated moribund industries and hospitals in the 27 local government areas, a development he said, had increased job opportunities.
“The AdaPalm, and Avutu Poultry are all employing people. These are old industries that were abandoned by successive governments.
“I wish he goes for a second tenure so that he can focus on building more factories in the state,’’ he said.
The community leader said that the completion and recent inauguration of the Imo State liaison office in Abuja was a worthy achievement, after the liaison office operated from a rented office for 17 years.
