The Anambra Central
Traditional Rulers’ Council on Tuesday observed that Gov. Willie Obiano’s  agric and agro-allied programme would address hunger in the state.
“We are optimistic that Gov. Obiano’s Agricultural Transformation Scheme (ATS) would end hunger in 2015 in this state,’’ the Chairman of the Council, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ilouno, told newsmen in Onitsha.
Ilouno, who is also the Chairman of Land Acquisition Committee for the ATS, noted that the Anambra monarchs were optimistic that the efforts would also attract investors and create more jobs
“So I see Anambra as the place to be that by this time next year; a lot of food would be so produced in Anambra that no person in Anambra will ever say I am hungry.
“Because it would be produced in abundance and it would be cheap and affordable; that is what I think.
“He has said Agriculture is the mainstay and he has done everything, he is putting everything, he is working to ensure that agriculturists from all over the World are brought into Anambra State.
“So that Anambra will be the number state in production of food and not only production but also processing some of the food items.
“He is building an airport through which you can export some of our excess food product after we have harvested.
“So I think he is forward looking, he is proactive, and he is hardworking and God will keep on blessing him,’’ he said.
