Agric Gets 60% N220bn CBN Fund

dent of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Kabiru Ibrahim has said that 60 percent of the N220 billion fund for Small and Medium Enterprises, SME, would be channelled toward the agriculture sector.
The AFAN President who disclosed this Monday in Abuja at a Press briefing said farmers were expected to form co-operatives and apply for such loans- in order to increase the nation’s agricultural productivity.
He outlined the challenges facing the sector to include the use of primitive tools by most farmers and the low involvement of able-bodied youths in the sector.
While acknowledging the efforts of the present administration in the ATA he called on farmers to take the process serious.
He further adviced farmers to compliment the efforts of the FG to help revive and reposition the sector.
Moreso the AFAN boss urged the government to ensure enhanced productivity of Nigerian farmers to facilitate food security for the populace.
