Security Expert Urges Revival Of Neighbourhood Watch

The Managing Director
of Jinkaku Security Limited, Sensei Japhet G.S Amadi has urged for the revival of the moribund neighborhood watch in the state.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt Sensei Amadi said that the Neighborhood Watch was needed now that the state was facing serious security crisis.
He said that what the state needs at the moment was an outfit that will feed the government and Security Agencies with intelligence on the activities of criminal groups across the state.
The security expert who attributed restiveness to poverty also faulted the disbursement of money to youths under the guise of  empowerment pointing out that instead of giving money to youths, a skill acquisition programme be setup to impact skills to the youths.
Sensei Amadi also said that the skills acquisition training should be backedup with starter packs while a committee to monitor the implementation be constituted.
He said that a security expert, his office is ready to offer advice to the government on ways of enhancing the security of the state.
He also urged local government chairmen to use their security votes judiciously, stressing that apart from giving to the police and security agencies, part of it should be used to empower the youths.
Sensei Amadi also stressed the need for communities to ensure that the strangers living in their midst are properly assessed with a view to checking criminalities in their areas.
“People must know those living in their neighbourhood platform to ensure intelligence gathering must be setup by the government”, he said.
