Peremabiri CDC Danies Alleged Mismanagement
The leadership of the
Peremabiri Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Council Area of Bayelsa State, yesterday, denied the alleged diversion of the monthly grants and allocation of 60,000 litres of diesel to the community for power generation.
According to the community, though the monthly grants and allocation of diesel for power generation for the indigenes had been a source of contention among cabals and intra-communal conflict in the past, the current leadership has judiciously utilised the funds and built needed infrastructure in the community.
Chairman of the Community Development Committee, CDC, Progress Neverdie, who gave account of his leadership to the indigenes of the community, said the current leadership had so far utilised the funds provided by the oil companies operating in the area to provide basic amenities, including nine boreholes and renovation of schools in the community.
He said: “The current leadership, upon assumption of office, met with stakeholders from the community to determine sources of revenue and devise a broad-based inventory of opportunities provided by oil companies operating in the area.
“We were resisted by some few cabals but they were rejected by popular opinion and demand of the majority.”
