The concerned stakeholders
of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State have called for the dissolution of the Bro Felix Obuah-led PDP Exco over what it termed as high handedness.
This was contained in a statement signed by Prof. Israel Owate on behalf of the concerned stakeholders and made available to newsmen Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
The statement which described the Obuah-led PDP Exco as docile, called on its National Working Committee (NWC) to invoke its constitutional powers as enshrined in part V111, section five, sub-section five (2) (e) of the party, and dissolve the present PDP executive in the state.
It also demanded the appointment of a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the party until another Executive was constituted.
Stressing on its urgency, they called for fresh membership registration in order to produce authentic party membership register for Rivers PDP.
According to them, the current PDP leadership was instrumental to the sluggish movement of the party, adding that it must formally receive and re-integrate all returning members, who are stranded.
On the issue of zoning, they maintained that anything short of it could lead to hostility in the state.
It further explained that such formular (zoning) favoured former Governor Peter Odili and the present governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, wondering why any person from Ikwerre or the Orashi region would still want to govern the state.
They also called on the NWC to abide by and implement the provisions of the party as contained in its constitution’s aims and objectives in chapter one, item 7.3 (c), which they said guarantees strict adherence to the policy of rotation and zoning.
It was further learnt that the National body of the party, would be visiting the state today (Wednesday) to, among other things, find solution to the present trouble rocking the part.
Others, who also spoke at the event, said that those manning the affairs of the party now are not in their spirit, but serving what they described as “belly Kingdom”.
Earlier, they have lauded the Rivers  Mainstream Coalition for powering the programme, while thanking the PDP stakeholders who have so far kept the faith.
