Owerri/Aba Auto Crash Kills 6, 9 Injured

Six persons have been
reported dead in a ghastly motor accident involving a 18-seater bus and a truck along Owerri/Aba road, Agbala, Imo State.
According to an eye witness account, the commuter bus, which was en route Lagos from Aba, where it loaded, was said to have had brake failure and consequently rammed into the truck, killing about 10 passengers on the spot.
Reports that reached our news desk from the scene of the incident, had it that the accident, which occurred at about 8.15a.m, saw many sympathisers rescuing victims of the accident before the arrival of the Federal Road safety Commission (FRSC) officers.
According to the eye witness account, the driver of the bus died along five other passengers of the bus, with survivors of the incident all in critical condition.
“I doubt if they can all make it, from the way they look, it would only take the grace of God to keep them alive,” said the witness account.
Confirming the incident to our Correspondent  the state sector commander of the FRSC, Yusuf Salami, said six persons died on the spot in the bus while nine were seriously injured.
He pointed out that the incident happened as a result of wrong overtaking by the bus driver. All the survivors, he added, had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, by good Samaritans before the arrival of his men to the scene.
