More NollyWood Stars Veer Into Politics
Most Nollywood stars
have now turned politicians and are contesting various positions in the country. It all started with Desmond Elliot who joined the labour party to contest a seat that is yet to be revealed followed by Kate Henshaw who wants to run for the House of representatives under the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP).
The recent gist is that another A-list actor, Bobmanuel Udokwu has revealed plans to contest for a seat at the Anambra State House of Assembly in the 2015 General Election under APGA.
Bobmanuel who is the current Special Adviser to Anambra State governor on Nollywood and Entertainment said he has been in politics since he was given the position of a special adviser in the current administration. The Nollywood role interpreter wants to represent Idemili North Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Udokwu said he saw nothing wrong in Nigeiran entertainers venturing into politics as most of their US counterparts have done. He stressed that a lot of people from other sectors have also gone into politics, there should not be any exception, in the US, a lot of entertainers are into politics.
Like most of her counterparts in the entertainment industry, Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan has also joined the race in politics. Though the political party is yet to be known, Funke intends running for a sent in Oyo State come 2015.
It will be recalled that Kate Henshaw, Bobmanuel Udokwu, Desmond Elliot Gice and much more have shown their interest to contest for political seats in the forthcoming general elections.
