LG Polls: Community Decries Imposition of Candidate
Residents of Otovwodo
(Agbassa) community, headquarters of Agbarha Kingdom Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, have protested what they alleged was an imposition of an Itsekiri Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate from Ugbolokposo community in Uvwie Local Government Area, on them in the just concluded council primaries of the party.
According to Mr. Jasper Osioh, the Oghwuvwie (traditional Prime Minister) of Otovwodo (Agbassa), “As the name implies, Otovwodo is the traditional headquarters of Agbarha Kingdom, Warri. Besides, the ward is owned and inhabited by the Urhobo of Agbarha.
“It is an affront to replace our son, Mr. Pius Eghagha, with an Itsekiri aspirant, who does not even stay in the ward.”
Osioh said that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan promised to abide by the Ibori Road Map to Peace in next political dispensation when a protest on Itsekiri encroachment into the Urhobo wards of Otovwodo and Mcdermott in the Warri South Transition Committee was made to him, adding “we will not accept this act of injustice.”
